With the off-season hiatus officially over, the Wildcats took the ice again as a team against the Washington Wolves Sunday night. The Wildcats traveled to the Kettler Capitals Iceplex for the season opener, excited to play, eager to win and with some new additions to roster. The Wildcats are happy to welcome new players to the lineup; Margaret Moran, Karen Frost, Mary Garrison and former teammates, Lyne McCauley and Anita Wray. The team is looking forward to what promises to be a great season.

The Wildcats opened the scoring early in the 1st period when defenseman Eve Borner picked the puck up in the neutral zone and crossed the offensive blue line. Eve fired off a low-fast shot through a screen, burying the puck and putting the Cats on the board. About a minute later, forward Meghan Benson followed suit, giving the Cats their second goal. The Wolves were quick to answer back and tied the game 2-2 early in the 2nd.

Undeterred, the Wildcats did not let up the offensive pressure and poured on the attack. Newly-signed forward, Karen Frost exploded with two back-to-back goals in the 2nd period. Her first goal came off a clean break-away that began in the neutral zone. Karen's second goal of the night came shortly afterwards from a nice feed from Meghan Benson.

The Benson-Frost offensive action factored once again in the 3rd period. This time, Benson netted a quick goal, assisted by Frost. The final goal of the game came from Michele Forte after she capitalized on a rebound shot from Laura Zdenahlik. The game ended with a 6-2 victory for the Wildcats. Congratulations go out to Anita Wray for her first official win while facing 18 shots between the pipes. Nice work, Cats!

Next week, the Wildcats host the Reading Reign at PWICE, Saturday at 8:40 pm. Plenty of seating is still available, so come out and support the Wildcats!
