The Wildcats traveled to Frederick, MD for a Sunday match-up against the Firestorm. The game quickly turned into a barn-burner as each team turned up the heat in determination to take all; however, it was the Wildcats who were victorious in the end.

After hammering each other and the goalies for a period, the score remained 0-0 at the end of the first. One minor penalty was called on Wildcats' defenseman, Margaret Moran for tripping, which was easily killed off by the Wildcats' penalty kill unit. The Wildcats scored the only goals of the game in the second period. With less than 3 minutes into the period, forward Lyne McCauley scored the first goal off a pass from defenseman Jenny Spencer. McCauley factored again a few minutes later as she carried the puck into the offensive zone, then made a quick pass to forward Mary Garrison, who shot it past the goaltender, extending the Wildcats' lead to 2-0. Congratulations to both Lyne and Mary on their first goals of the season!  Later in the period, the Wildcats faced back-to-back penalties. Fortunately, the Cats' penalty kill remains perfect on the season as both penalties were killed and the lead protected.

The grudge match continued into the third period. It was evident the Firestorm were determined to break through the Wildcats' defense and get on the board, but the Cats held firm and fought hard to fend off the assaulting Firestorm.

In her first showing of the season, goalie Margaret Bartha backstopped the Wildcats with a 26 save performance, earning her first shutout of the season.  Congratulations, Margaret!  Final score was 2-0.  The win extends the Wildcats' undefeated record to 3-0.

Next week, the Wildcats host the Chesapeake Bay Lightning at PWICE. Game starts at 8:40 Saturday night. Plenty of general admission seating is available so come on out and support the Wildcats!
