The Wildcats arrived at the Prince William Ice Center Saturday night, ready for battle. Their opponent was the formidable Chesapeake Bay Lightning, who entered the MAWHL Senior D Division for the first time this season. The Cats showed up early to the rink, eager to play and even more eager to win.

The Wildcats and CBL battled for 45 minutes with neither team letting up. The Wildcats' offense pulled all the stops and launched assault after assault in the offensive zone, while the defense held the blue line and won hand-to-hand battles in front of the net. Still, with a few seconds left in the first period, the Lighting jumped out in front and scored on a 2 on 1 break.

The Cats were not deterred. After the Wildcats' coaches called a timeout in the first few minutes of the second period, the Cats came out swinging. Their efforts were not in vain. With 2:21 remaining in the period, forward Lyne McCauley launched and buried the puck, getting the Cats on the board at last.

The Wildcats racked up a total of 3 penalties, and each one successfully killed off by the Cats' undefeated PK unit. Goalie Margaret Bartha had a stellar performance in net, making some incredible saves while facing 21 shots. It was a hard fought game, but ended in a 1-1 stalemate at the final buzzer. Great game, Cats!

This Saturday, the Wildcats are home again as they take on the Baltimore Blizzard. The puck drops at 8:40 pm. Good seats are still available, so come out and show your support!
