Last Sunday, the Wildcats traveled to Skate Frederick in Maryland for their match against the Frederick Firestorm.  The Wildcats knew they would have to come out strong and take control of the game at the first face-off if they were to have a chance against the always formidable Firestorm. Gaining control of the Firestorm zone early on, Cats' center Meghan Benson and wingers Ines Schroeder and Diane Sanders had many scoring opportunities as they cycled the puck. Finally, from behind the net, Sanders passed the puck to Schroeder who, with a quick one-timer, buried the puck in the net with only 1:52 into the game.  The goal was Schroeder's first of the season; Sanders and Benson were given assists. Later in the period, Meghan Benson, on a clean break away, scored the second goal for the Cats, making it her second of the season.

The Wildcats kept up the offensive pressure, and ultimately controlled the game.  Cat's goalie Margaret Bartha was solid in net, making some spectacular saves against the Firestorm offense. The Cats gave up one goal in the third period, but came out victorious at the final buzzer with the final score, 2-1.  Great game, Cats!!!

This week, the Cats are on a bye, but return next weekend to take on the Baltimore Blizzard at Patterson Park in Baltimore.  Check the website schedule page for rink location, and come out and support the Wildcats.  Game time is 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 12.  See you there!
Let's Go CATS!!!
