The Wildcats traveled to Frederick on November 3 for their first match with the Firestorm this season. The Cats were ready for their first road game and looking for a "W" in the Win column.

Once they took the ice, the Wildcats didn't waste any time. Laura Zdenahlik opened the scoring 1:55 into the game when she one-timed the puck into the open side of the net from a pass from Casey Arnett. The Firestorm answered back later when Zdenahlik found herself in the sin bin for interference. The 1st period ended with the score tied at 1.

The Wildcats kept the energy up in the 2nd period, pouring on wave after wave of offensive attack. Playing on wing, Margaret Bartha scored her first goal of the season with a tip-in during a scrum in front of the net. The Firestorm regrouped but were kept scoreless during the 2nd period. The 3rd period opened with a quick goal by Bartha on a pass from blueliner Krista Ehlert. The Firestorm quickly retaliated, but Laura Zdenahlik sealed the deal by scoring her second of the night.

For three periods, the Wildcats never let the energy lag. Leading the Firestorm the entire game, the team never once sat back on their heels. In the final minutes of the game, the Firestorm came at the Wildcats with both barrels in an attempt to generate a different ending. There were some wild moments in front of the net as the Wildcats' defense and goalie, Anita Wray battled the fierce Firestorm onslaught. In the end, the opposition was kept at bay and the game ended with 4-2 win for the Cats.

In a rare post-game interview, Coach Jason said, "We received production from every line, whether it was a goal, key save, blocked shot or intercepted pass. It was a complete game by all players." Well played, Prince William!

Next up, the Wildcats travel to Baltimore to take on the Blizzard at Patterson Park on Saturday, November 16. The puck drops at 5:15 so get there early!

Let's go CATS!!!
