Saturday night the Wildcats were handed their second defeat of the season by the Chesapeake Bay Lightning.  The 7-2 loss marked the second time these two teams met with their first meeting ending in a 1-1 tie last October.  This time the Lightning dominated the scoreboard in what proved to be a physical and hotly contested game.

The Wildcats came out strong and kept up an intense pace the entire game, even with a short bench. The Lightning opened the scoring and kept it up through the first two periods.  Despite the deficit in goals, the Cats played an exceptional game; generating pressure and plenty of scoring opportunities in the offensive zone, and staying strong on the blue line.

Halfway through the 3rd period, the Wildcats got on the board.  Laura Zdenahlik, positioned at the right post, put away a text-book pass from Michele Forte, who was fed by Krista Ehlert from the left corner.  The Cats poured everything on, determined to stay in the game and claw their way back. Even as the final seconds ticked away, Michele Forte scored the Cats' second goal from Heather Meyer with less than 30 seconds left on the clock.  The Wildcats kept up the pressure, never giving up until the final buzzer.  Pat Lyons made her debut between the pipes for the Wildcats, and faced 29 shots!  Way to go, Pat!

The Cats are on a bye week but have a practice scheduled for this Saturday night.  The coach is promising it is going to be a tough one!
